The Furnas Valley is very known by it's volcanic activity. You can find there bubbling fumaroles of mud and water, 22 thermal springs waters all with different tastes and the smell of sulphur doesn't let you forget you are inside a volcano crater.
In Furnas there is a Botanical Garden with almost 2500 trees in 30 acres and a natural hot water thermal swimming pool.
Lagoa do Fogo (Fire Lake) is classified as a Nature Reserve located in the centre of the island. The lake has limpid waters and is surrounded by sand beaches and endemic vegetation. |
