The tour focuses on the Turinese urban picture characterised by the rigid orthogonality of its plan, the episodes of late 19th-century expansion represented a pleasant exception in their adherence to the stylistic-formed canons of what was called Art Nouveau, or more often in Italy Liberty style.
The name was inspired by the art nouveau textile designs that were (and are) a trademark of the Arthur Lasenby Liberty department store in London. |

Corso Francia corresponds to the Royal road to Rivoli planned and realised in the first half of the 18th-century.
The introduction of the railway to Novara at Porta Susa created the conditions for Turin, under demographc pressure, to begin to expand towards the west. The creation of PIazza Statuto belongs to this phase: the square physically connects the Baroque city to the 19th-century one and is the departure point for the urban expansion along the axes of Corso Francia and Via Cibrario where facades of considerable worth, dating from the first years of the 20th-century are present. |
