Ambo sometimes called Hagerhiwot meaning "Land of life" located at 125 kms to the west of Addis Ababa. The Wonchi creator lake, the falls of the Guder River and the vineyard are the main attractions of the areas, where vegetation and view, and the various bird species around the lakes are worth to see. It is a very comfortable picnic drive through fertile farmland both ways after having lunch at Ambo town arrive Addis Ababa late afternoon.
Ambo is known for its mineral water, which is bottled outside of town; it is reportedly the most popular brand in Ethiopia. Ambo is also the location of a research station of the Ethiopian Institute of Agricultural Research; initiated in 1977, this station hosts research in protecting major crops in Ethiopia. Ambo is a weekend resort for swimmers and hikers. |

| After Breakfast, we drive from Addis to Wolisso via Ambo for Wonchi Crater Lake. Stop at town of Ambo (125 km west of Addis), for some time and drive to Wonchi, 32km from south of Ambo on the left side to Wolliso. Visit the Crater Lake - Wonchi. Its magnificent landscapes, the volcanic Hot springs, surrounded by shady trees are enjoyable! Then we drive to Wolliso (about 40km dirt road). Overnight at Negash Lodge. The natural hot spring of Wolliso which feeds a swimming pool as well as the water in the rooms, marvelous grounds with good bird life, Colombus (a large slender monkey that has a long tail and long silky white & Black haired fur) and Velvet monkeys are best attractions in Wolliso resort. Based on your time, swimming and exploring the areas around Wolliso is possible. |
