320 kms from Aswan is to be found Abu Simbel, the most beautiful and imaginative construction of the greatest and most whimsical pharaoh in Egyptian history. The main temple is dedicated in theory to Amon-Ra, Re Horakhty and Ptah, but in practice it was constructed for the greater glory of its builder - Ramses the Great. Next to it is a smaller temple dedicated to his wife - Queen Nefertari.
The main facade consists of four statues of the pharaoh seated on his throne and represent his advancing age with the youngest to the left as viewed from the front.
Twice a year a ray of sunlight would penetrate the front entrance and 65 metres into the temple. This would illuminate three of the four statues in the shrine at the end - the fourth, Ptah - the God of darkness - would not be lit.
In the 1960s the construction of the High Dam on the Nile threatened to submerge Abū Simbel. In a remarkable feat of engineering that began in 1964, both temples were meticulously disassembled and rebuilt at a higher location. |

| We always move from Aswan to Abu simbel in A convoy with other buses as this is the procedure is followed long time ago for the safety of passengers as we are driving into the desert,we drive early morning at specific times. |

| I am not permitted to guide you inside some specific places such as the tombs of the valley of Kings, Queens and Abu Simbel temple to avoid or reduce crowdedness and noise and that applicable at all guides. |
