Aberdare National Park is one of the most thrilling Kenya national parks. With an incredibly wide range of activities, a visitor to Aberdares is bound to be spoilt for choice. This is probably the reason UK's Princess Elizabeth was on an Aberdare safari when she ascended to the throne. Animals easily observed include the lion, African elephant, African hunting dog, giant forest hog, bushbuck, mountain reedbuck, waterbuck, cape buffalo, suni, side-striped jackal, eland, duikers olive baboon, black and white Colobus monkey, and sykes monkey. The park habours one of the biggest populations of the gravely endangered black rhino in the country. It offers the best opportunities to see the bongo, that rare, gorgeous forest antelope. Its also one of the best places to see leopards in Kenya - probably second only to Samburu National Reserve. The park boasts a profuse bird life. Over 250 bird species have been cataloged. A visit to Aberdares is a visit to Paradise |

Day 1 Distance: 180 km. Depart Nairobi at 0830hrs crossing the Kenyan Highlands to Aberdare National Park. Check in to the Ark lodge and have lunch. Afternoon game drive and a walk. Ark Lodge is a unique tree lodge with a veranda that overlooks a floodlit waterhole and saltlick allowing undisturbed views of wildlife visiting the waterhole. Resembling and named after Noah's Ark, the Lodge is designed with 'decks' from which numerous balconies and lounges provide superb vantage points for game viewing. A ground level bunker provides excellent photographic opportunities and takes you closer than you would believe possible to the wildlife. In each room, a buzzer system will alert you when there is something special to see, such as a leopard that might sneak to the floodlit waterhole in the dead of night. Day 2 We shall do a game drive and a walk in the morning and the same in the afternoon. Overnight at Ark Lodge. Day 3 Morning game drive. Lunch at the lodge. Afternoon: Depart for Nairobi where our tour ends. |
